These poems really put me in a place where I feel like I am seeing right through the authors eyes. Really spectacular poetry.
I've had the privilege of being on a video call with Jordan before he had started publishing his work. He's a young man with a passion to use his life and words to make a difference. Without a doubt, this little book of poetry is a great start! I look forward to watching Jordan live his life on purpose. Keep making it happen Jordan.
The writer uses his voice to shed light on political and spiritual issues that he faces. Issues that we all are or have been faced with. As I read his poetry I felt his frustration, his growth and the hope he carries. Hope that allowed him to take time to encourage and speak light into other artist, poets and dreamers alike. We all need that extra push from time to time. His words are motivating.

I didn't read the first book but now I definitely want to! This book is an amazing account of the author's life journey through his various experiences. It was calming at times and other times I found myself on the edge of my seat imaging different scenarios in my own life. I'm a forever fan of this author and I look forward to his next piece of work. Definitely a must have in your collection.
Ascension The Journey Continues is a lyrical and upbeat depiction of the struggles of race, religion, role models, music, politics, and other issues facing individuals today. The author challenges the reader to address them from a unique perspective that is uplifting and not preachy. Each story has a few nuggets of wisdom and depth.
"Ascension The Journey Continues" tells the true story, in prose, of a young man's upward path to understanding and coping with the world he finds himself living in. It's a world much different than my own in social and ethnic context and one that I would not begin to claim to understand. But the glimpse into his world helps me to better comprehend his joy and pain and gives me hope, that the struggles he faces, and that in truth we all face, have a common ground.
I sense a desire and yearning in Jordan's words, that regardless of perceived and actual differences, there is resolve and caring and love for those who will be passionate enough to come together and share. Jordan's words are a breath of honest and forthright fresh air in an otherwise stale environment filled with media soundbites played up for their sensationalist newsworthiness. I'm not being pandered to through Jordan's words, I'm getting a heartfelt and open response in words, to a young man's feelings. That is worth the price of this book alone.
Why not 5 stars then? Because I want to give Jordan room to fan the flames of his passion and show us even better prose than he has thus far. He's just beginning this journey and he deserves somewhere to grow.
